You may have a reason why, but you don’t have to stay that way
It may be true bad things were done to you, people treated you unfairly or poorly
This may be what provoked you to go into any of these victim modes of: anger, or withdrawal, depression, bullying, manipulation, resentment, easily provoked, taking offense, self-destructive thoughts and actions, or becoming aggressive and retaliative.
But what happened to you is not an excuse for you to stay that way. Now you know better and don’t have to continue in the habit and can choose to shift to different feelings and responses.
Especially as a Christian, one must:
1. Submit to the sovereignty of God that allowed you to go through that temporary earthly trial
2. Focus on your heavenly eternal future not the trials of this short life
3. Obey Him and keep His commandments all of the time, forgiving loving others and dropping all bitterness or resentment and worry. Heb 12:15, Phil 4:6
4. Believing that all things work for good so there is no reason to murmur or complain
5. Rejoice in all things, trusting that God is doing good even in trials and things hard on our flesh, because you are not alone, He is in the trial with you refining you and maturing you, as He was Daniel with the lions and the fire with his 3 young friends.
6. That you can do all things through Christ
7. That this life is not about your pleasure; it is about giving up your life as a sacrifice to God and serving Him and others in ways that He gets glory and you store up treasures in heaven
8. Therefore you deserved nothing when you came in, you have not been treated unfairly, in fact you got mercy you did not deserve and are ahead; you lack nothing of all you need, nor will you ever, and you should be thankful for this, rejoicing and praising God all of the time. To stay upset is a denial that God is who he says.
Jude 15 to execute judgment on all, to convict all who are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have committed in an ungodly way, and of all the harsh things which ungodly sinners have spoken against Him.” 16 These are grumblers, complainers, walking according to their own lusts; and they mouth great swelling words, flattering people to gain advantage.
1 Cor 6:10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And such were some of you.
Heb 4:1 Therefore, since a promise remains of entering His rest, let us fear lest any of you seem to have come short of it. 2 For indeed the gospel was preached to us as well as to them; but the word which they heard did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in those who heard it. 3 For we who have believed do enter that rest, as He has said: “So I swore in My wrath, ‘They shall not enter My rest,’” although the works were finished from the foundation of the world. NKJV
Heb 6:4 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted the heavenly gift, and have become partakers of the Holy Spirit, 5 and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come, 6 if they fall away, to renew them again to repentance, since they crucify again for themselves the Son of God, and put Him to an open shame. 7 For the earth which drinks in the rain that often comes upon it, and bears herbs useful for those by whom it is cultivated, receives blessing from God; 8 but if it bears thorns and briers, it is rejected and near to being cursed, whose end is to be burned.
9 But, beloved, we are confident of better things concerning you, yes, things that accompany salvation, though we speak in this manner. 10 For God is not unjust to forget your work and labor of love which you have shown toward His name, in that you have ministered to the saints, and do minister. 11 And we desire that each one of you show the same diligence to the full assurance of hope until the end, 12 that you do not become sluggish, but imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises. NKJV
1 Thess 5:16 Rejoice always, 17 pray without ceasing, 18 in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
1 Peter 4:13 but rejoice to the extent that you partake of Christ’s sufferings, that when His glory is revealed, you may also be glad with exceeding joy. NKJV
2 Cor 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation ; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. NKJV
